An amazing B&W photowork. I love the subject and the way you turned it into a beautiful image. Ansel Adams inspired, indeed.

I like that this photo has a solemn tone despite being of a waterfall. My only suggestion would be increasing the contrast, but I'm a huge contrast whore. I increase the shit out of the contrast on almost all of my photos.

Thank you. Hmm, yeah, maybe that would have helped; I was afraid I'd overdo it and end up losing some of the details or making parts of the photo too white. Contrast really can make photos look stunning, but I never know how much to put. XD

I usually just crank it all the way up, and if it looks too eye-paining or if some details I wanted to keep get washed out, then I try different levels.

If it washes out details you don't like, you can always increase the contrast of a certain area instead of the whole image. I do that sometimes.

Ah, I see. Hmm, then do you use layers and masks to do that? o:

Rarely, actually. I usually just freehand with the dodge or burn tools. And I keep my hand on ctrl+z in case I dodge/burn too much, or in an area I didn't want to. That's a good way to balance the bright and dark areas in an image.

The cases where I'd make a selection and copy it to a new layer is if I wanted separate sets of effects on different areas of the image. With [link] I made the background separate from the subject because I wanted the background to be really warped and have bizarre colors, whereas I wanted the subject to have some resemblance of reality.

Do you/did you ever play World of Warcraft? I like the title by the way, I think it suits the image.

Nope, though I think I tried Warcraft: Orcs and Humans many years ago. And thank you (:

Ah, okay. It's just that the name was used in a World of Warcraft raid a couple of years ago...
